1) Scout’s Guide To The Zombie Apocalypse
What is going to keep this apart from another brainless, (ha get it?) zombie movie is that it stars Tye Sheridan.
We should get to see it this November.
2) The Great Wall at the IFI
Opening today exclusively in the IFI is Tadhg O’Sullivan’s new documentary: The Great Wall.
This documentary looks at the enclosure of Europe by a complex system of walls and fences. The film journeys across a range of European landscapes, and encounters those whose lives are defined by these walls – detainees within European migrant camps.
The film was shot in 11 countries over a year, and journeys from a Spanish enclave in North Africa where the border with Europe is marked by a three-metre barbed fence, to London and Brussels.

3) Todd Haynes’s Carol has a trailer
We’ll get to see the I’m Not There director’s new work Carol this November and from what we see it’s a return to the Far From Heaven-era America he does so well.
Adapted by Phyllis Nagy from Patricia Highsmith’s 1952 novel The Price Of Salt, Carol stars Cate Blanchett and Rooney Mara in a story of love. Therese (Mara) a shop girl, falls for a wealthy customer (Blanchett’s Carol). Carol is married with a child, and Therese is involved in a casual relationship with a man but the two women are instantly attracted and begin an affair.
We should get to see the full affair come November.
4) The Witch Trailer
Not only has The Witch got this pretty bitchin’ poster, but the trailer makes it seem like a mixture of The Wicker Man and Ben Wheatley’s A Field in England. It picked up a directing award for Robert Eggers at this years Sundance Film Festival and if you’re heading to Toronto in September be sure to check it out.
