Eleven years is obviously the right amount of time needed for the proverbial water to pass under the bridge and allow Chris Rock to once again host the Oscars. Yes, it was announced that come February 28th of next year we will all be sitting down to see if Chris Rock can improve on Neil Patrick Harris’s attempt at hosting which had the lowest figures in six years. So this was the week that we had the first full length trailer for The Force Awakens, a nifty new poster harking back to the originals from the 70’s and 80’s, and word that many cinema’s websites had crashed, such was the demand for tickets for the new film.
The film will be released on Dec 17th in Ireland and don’t forget that Nigel and myself (with some help) will be watching all 6 Star Wars films before the big release in our monthly Watch With Spooool podcast.
3) Bram Stoker Festival

This weekend will see not only the annual IFI horrorthon, but also the Bram Stoker Festival celebrating the man who gave the world Dracula. They show a selection of films every year and this time they’ve teamed up with Light House Cinema and together they’ll be treating us to Blade I and II, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, From Dusk ‘Til Dawn and Francis Ford Coppola’s take on Dracula from 1992. Check out the nifty Stoker website and get your tickets before they’re all gone.
4) Back to the Future Live at the Bord Gáis Energy Theatre

October 21st was Back to the Future Part II day and if you didn’t get your fill of all things Marty and Doc related, worry not as you can go see Back to The Future on the big screen in the comfy venue of The Bord Gáis Energy Theatre where it will have live accompaniment by the RTE Concert Orchestra. 5) Jameson Cult Film Club Screening of Ghostbusters
