1) A Field In England

The latest film from Nigel’s cousin Ben Wheatley opens on the 5th of July across a multitude of formats – cinema, DVD, television and video on demand. Is it going to be our generations The Wicker Man? Quite possibly. They’ve just dropped a new trailer and it’s bonkers to put it mildly. Enjoy and don’t forget to pick your format for July 5th!

2) 25th Galway Film Fleadh

In between getting drunk in the Roisin Dubh, Galwegians like to watch the odd film. This is a pretty special fleadh with it being the 25th year and the line up doesn’t disappoint. Zachary Quinto seems to be the guest of honour with a screening of both Star Trek and the underrated Margin Call, followed by a Q&A. Nigel will have an in depth look in the coming days but you can buy tickets and find programme info here

3) Fifty Shades of Grey gets a Director

So a director has finally been attached to the book that made women up and down the country dabble in some light BDSM. Duties fall to Sam Taylor-Johnson who directed 2009’s Nowhere Boy starring Aaron Taylor-Johnson who would become her husband and father to her child. They both took each others surnames upon marrying, swoon. So many people will be wondering how graphic the film will be as the book is full to the brim of rumpy pumpy and the web is packed with speculation of who will play both leads (here are some casting rumours)…

4) Jobs

No not a film about the recent recession in Western Europe but a biopic on the man behind Apple. No not The Beatles the other Apple, ugh look here’s a trailer for the Steve Jobs film cleverly titled Jobs, only cinemas that are running iOS 7 will be able to show the film though – ;). Americans can see the film in August.

5) World War Z’s original ending…

Wondering why all that stuff with Wales seemed kinda rushed? Might be something to do with the fact the film had a completely different final half hour which centred around a big war in Russia. Movies.com has more – “Here’s How ‘World War Z’ Originally Ended Before the Reshoots“.
