Finally someone agrees with us! The Perks of Being a Wallflower was our combined best film of last year (read our review here) and it picked up the award for outstanding film at the GLAAD awards last Saturday. GLAAD is a U.S. non-governmental media monitoring organization which promotes the image of LGBT people in the media and they were obviously impressed by Ezra Miller’s outstanding performance. Hurrah!

4) Scéal
“Scéal” is a new TG4 programme showcasing Irish speaking writers and directors which launched on Wednesday. It challenges them to adapt a well-known story from Irish language literature or folklore and turn it into a half hour short film. First up was “Bás Arto Leary” written by Irish Times writer and all round gaelgoir Manchán Magan and directed by Luke McManus. It’s a contemporary tale of love, anger and revenge, loosely based on the 18th century poem, Caoineadh Airt Uí Laoghaire. Keeps your eyes on the TG4 player to catch a re-run and tune in next Wednesday for episode two.
