TAKE TWO: ADIFF 2016 Special

So the Audi Dublin International Film Festival got underway last night with their Gala Screening of Sing Street. The film is released nationwide on St. Patrick’s Day and we’ll have the review closer to the time but worry not it’s a cracker. I’ve a special Take Two this week in honour of the festival where I pick five films well woth your time and money. Buy all your tickets here and be quick as they’re sure to sell out.

 

1) Not Film

Saturday Light House Cinema Sat 20th Feb 6.30pm

This documentary by Ross Lipman examines Samuel Beckett’s one and only foray into cinema when he made Film with Buster Keaton. This experimental essay examines the impact of the film including rare recordings where Beckett discusses the making of the film.

 

2) Anomalisa

Tuesday 23rd Feb 9 pm Light House Cinema

Charlie Kaufman’s first film in seven years is certainly worthy of your time. Add to this that it’s stop motion animation and that David Thewlis and Jennifer Jason Leigh are the voice talent. It’s a love story set around a business trip but you’ll have to get a ticket and see for yourself. The film is also nominated in the best animated feature Oscar.

3) Fís na Fuiseoige

Wednesday 24th Feb Light House Cinema 6.15pm

Aodh Ó Coileáin presents Fís na Fuiseoige examining the special relationship in Ireland with place and identity. The focus is made through the Irish language, in paticlar poetry coinciding with amazing aerial photography of the land.

 

4) Hitchcock/truffaut

Francois Truffaut and Alfred Hitchcock

Saturday 27th Light House Cinema 4 pm

When Hitchcock met Truffant.

 

5) Son of Saul

Son of Saul

Light House Cinema Sunday 28th 2pm

Your chance to see the favourite to take the best foreign language film at the Oscars on the day of the Oscars.
